TOM PETERS, Development Director, is also a double bassist, playing as a member of Southwest Chamber since 1998. He has premiered solo works for the bass by composers such as Alexandra Shapiro, Mary Lou Newmark,  and Robin Cox, and premiered and recorded Stephen L. Mosko’s Darling for Cambria Master Recordings as a part of Southwest Chamber Music’s Composer Portrait Series. Tom is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, and studied with James VanDemark, Warren Benfield, and Jeff Bradetich.  He is currently working with Bertram Turetzky on the vast 20th century solo literature for the double bass, and toured Germany in 2003.  He has championed the mind-boggling difficulty of John Cage’s 26’ 1.1499” for String Player and will be featured in a series of solo recitals in Pasadena’s Branson Theater at Boston Court in 2004-2005. Mr. Peters performed on Southwest Chamber Music’s Complete Chamber Music of Carlos Chávez, Volume 2, which received a 2004 GRAMMY Award.
