PETER JACOBSON , is a cellist devoted to the performance of classical, modern, and improvised music, taking the cello to the familiar and the unknown. He has performed locally and abroad in concert halls and the radio. Peter graduated from USC where he studied with Eleonore Schoenfeld, and has also studied at Cal Arts and the San Francisco Conservatory. Peter has performed as soloist with the Torrance Symphony and has premiered concertos by Jeffrey Holmes and Roger Pretzyltulsky. He has won competitions including the Bramhall, the La Jolla and the Jennings Butterfield Young Artists Competitions, the Leni FeBlande scholarship, and the San Diego Music Merit competition. Peter has studied North Indian classical music with the late sitar master Rahul Sariputra and at the Ali Akbar College of Music. He also performs with the raga fusion group, The Arohi Ensemble. |
